How club fitting works

Fitting is a diagnosis, not a checkout flow. The goal is a club that matches how you deliver the face — measured, explained, and written down.

In-person / launch monitor

Hit in a bay with a fitter watching ball speed, launch, spin, and dispersion. Heads and shafts change until the window matches your swing — then you leave with a written build sheet.

Phone / remote

Best when you already have numbers or a known reference club. A builder walks miss patterns, feel, and current specs. Honest shops will tell you when you still need monitor time.

On-course hybrid

Indoor data plus outdoor turf and wind. Useful when your range numbers look perfect but the course tells a different story.

What you get

A fitting should end with artifacts

  • Written recommendation: head, shaft, length, lie, loft, grip, swing weight
  • Why those specs fit your speed, attack angle, and miss
  • A clear buy or build path — without same-day pressure
  • Baseline comparison against your current gamer

What to ignore

  • Single “longest” shot on the screen with no dispersion context
  • Flex letters without weight, profile, or comparison
  • Pressure to buy before you understand the recommendation
  • Sweepstakes and membership noise when you came for a fit
